Project Description

Since the first floor Grosvenor Casino closed in 2009, despite efforts to let the space for other leisure uses, including a restaurant, the well know Moortown Corner building has remained empty. The proposed redevelopment will deliver a mixture of luxury apartments in a well sort after area of Leeds.

Solution

The existing first floor will be converted into four 2 bedroom, a single 1 bedroom and four duplex apartments. The second floor will provide a further four 2 bedroom apartments. The scheme uses clever architectural solutions such as oriel windows and recessed balconies to deal with complex privacy issues on this tight urban site. The scheme will also involve almost entirely rebuilding the rear section of the building in new blue engineering brick which allows the new and old to be clearly differentiated, while the front elevations will be cleaned and repaired.

Status

Construction is complete and the scheme is now occupied.
