Draper House Bournemouth
Specialist residential care home for dementia sufferers.
The final design was “v” shaped in plan, with the main communal areas located in the centre of the building and two wings leading off to the individual apartments. The unique plan shape was a response to the site and the need to create a safe and protected garden area for the residents to enjoy. The building was constructed of brickwork, larch, render and slate, materials that create a warm and homely feel. The scheme incorporated a number of special features to assist residents such as memory boxes, sensory room and carefully considered circulation spaces that don’t create dead ends.
