Project Description

Conversion of an existing 12 storey office building adjacent East Andrews Park into 156 high end student studio apartments. The project includes extensive remodelling of the external envelope and a new additional floor to the plinth level.

Solution

The proposed solution included refacing the lower levels of the existing office building with buff brickwork and the introduction of new bay window details that mirror the rhythm of adjacent properties. A feature brickwork panel denotes the entrance into the main student accommodation scheme, above the ground floor retail. The new 3rd floor addition is set back from the main facade and finished almost entirely in glass, while the upper tower is finished in lightweight silver composite cladding panels with feature corner window details.

Status

The project received planning consent in July 2013.
